Specialized Services Division

Captain Kenny Johnson began his law enforcement Career in 1992 with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office. He has worked as a patrol deputy, field training officer, detective in the Criminal Investigation Unit, SRCAPT KENNY JOHNSONT member (SWAT Team), SRT supervisor, patrol corporal, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant (watch commander), lieutenant in the Internal Affairs Division and  lieutenant in charge of the Judicial Process Unit and the Training Division. 

He currently has over 2,500 hours in training and advanced law enforcement classes. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer’s Development Course, a Certified Public Manager through Florida State University, a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and is a graduate of the Florida Sheriff’s Association Command Officer’s Developmental Course. 

Captain Johnson is currently an FDLE Certified Instructor at the South Florida State College Criminal Justice Academy, where he teaches basic recruits,  and is a firearms and driving Instructor.  He was promoted to captain over the Law Enforcement Division in October of 2016.  In October 2017 was moved to the Specialized Services Division.

The Specialized Services Division is comprised of several different area of professional services within the Law Enforcement Bureau. Currently these specific areas of responsibility are coordinated by the Division Captain, and are separated into seven individual units including the following: Training, Court related Services (Courthouse Operations), Judicial Process (Civil Process), Warrants, Fleet Maintenance, Crime Prevention and SWAT.
